Young’s RV Park, Caliente, NV

Stay Date:  Oct 2015

Our Rating:  GOOD – 8

Young's RV2Caliente is a small town in the midst of a beautiful area, and this park has great views of the surrounding mountains.  At the south end of town with easy access, Young's RV4check in was with the very friendly and helpful owner.  Interior roads and sites are gravel, with small trees planted in the rear of the sites.  Convenient Young's RV3hookups and plenty of room between sites.  No cable TV, but clear shot to TV satellites.  The park WiFi worked well, and Verizon cell/data were good.  Some long-term Young's RV1residence but not much clutter.  Quiet at night with no road noise.  Lots to see in the area, and we’ll be back.  With Passport America the first night is 50% off, all others 10%.  A great place at $23/night.  Young’s RV Park

Valley View RV Park

Stay Date:  Oct 2015

Our Rating:  Good – 7

Valley View1Convenient to the highway, with fairly level gravel pull-throughs near the front of the park. Friendly folks at check-in. A bit tricky navigating Valley View2the pull-through between the trees for big rigs, but doable. Trees blocked the satellite, but there were plenty of OTA channels available and a an extensive cable selection. Valley View3Verizon cell and data were strong, and the park WiFi worked well. Plenty of truck noise throughout the night, otherwise a quality stay.  OK price at $27/night.  Valley View RV Park

Sparks Marina RV Resort, Sparks, NV

Stay Date:  Oct 2015
Our Rating:  GOOD – 10
Sparks Marina1Lots of places use the term “resort” but this is truly one that earns the title.  Check I under the portico across from the pool, indoor hot tub, rec room and Sparks Marina2lounge, then get an escort to your site.  Paved streets and pads, artificial grass between sites, picnic table with grill area, and a shade tree, with parking next to your rig.  Sites Sparks Marina3are not large, but are laid out so that there’s a comfortable area for the table and to lounge in chairs under the tree.  Good cable, solid WiFi, and clear shot to TV satellites, with Sparks Marina4strong Verizon cell and 4G.  Convenient to a large shopping area with all the restaurants, i.e., BJ’s, Buffalo Wild Wings, Outback, etc. and on the corner be sure and visit Sinbad’s Hot Dogs, some of the best ever.  Down the street is the Western Casino with fairly loose slots and a great restaurant, Pancho and Willy’s.  One of our top three places in the country, for good reason.  Worth the price at $46/night.  Sparks Marina RV ResortSparks Marina5

Hawk’s Nest RV Park, Tionesta, CA

Stay Date:  Oct 2015

Our Rating:  GOOD – 7

Hawks Nest RV Park5This is a nice little park in the pines far away from any town but near the Lava Caves NP.  Stock up before you come, because it’s 27 miles to the nearest small town (Tulelake), 60 to any town of size (Klamath Falls). Hawks Nest RV Park4 It’s a narrow paved road for two miles off the highway, then gravel entry and interior roads.  The owner was very friendly and helpful, and assigned us a large pull-thru site.  Hawks Nest RV Park1Sites are fairly level and have a picnic table, but are dusty.  Hookups are OK, except for the annoying sewer hookup 8” above ground, and an occasional power Hawks Nest RV Park3fluctuation that would cause the surge protector to shut down the power.  Verizon cell and data were surprisingly good, and OTA TV produced 10 channels.  Rooftop satellite was blocked by trees, but there were places for a tripod.  Hawks Nest RV Park2The park hosts a large campfire each night, but with temperatures in the high 70s we declined to participate.  Quiet and dark at night.  Lots of wildlife, including a hen turkey and her chicks that were frequent visitors.  A pretty good deal at $25/night.  Hawk’s Nest RV Park

Silver Spur RV Park, Silverton, OR

Stay Date:  June2015
Our Rating:  GOOD – 9
Silver Spur RV Park1We enjoyed our stay at this nicely maintained, professionally run park.  Interior roads and sites were gravel, but pull thrus were long and level.  Excellent cable and WiFi, even when the park was full.  Silver Spur RV Park2Easy entry, but exit requires a round about route to reenter the highway.  Some road noise during the day, but fairly quiet at night.  Verizon cell/4G were strong, and there were no obstructions to the satellite.  Silverton is a quaint little town, Silver Spur RV Park3and Silver Falls State Park is well worth the trip.  A bargain at the Passport America rate of $20/night.  Silver Spur RV Park

Vale Trails RV Park, Vale OR

Stay Date:  June 2015
Our Rating:  GOOD – 7
Vail Trails1This is a quiet, tree-shaded park in the small town of Vale.  After check in, you drive back onto the road to enter the pull-thru areas.  Vale Trails2Interior roads and sites were gravel, and the site was level although hookups were placed well in back of the normal parking position.  Trees prevented use of the rooftop satellite, although there may be sites with a clear shot if requested.  Vale Trails3Cable TV was limited, and the free WiFi worked well.  Verizon cell/4G was good.  Nice lady in the office.  A good stopover for $31/night.  Vale Trails RV Park
