Orange Grove RV Park, Bakersfield CA

Stay Date:  Nov 2016

Our Rating:  Good – 9

Orange Grove RV ParkProfessional staff at check in, even gave us hints on which oranges to pick. This time of year the trees were full of fruit, and we were told to Orange Grove RV Park2pick as much as we wanted. Sites are long level gravel pull-thrus with trees and table. Extensive cable, good OTA, and no obstructions to satellites. Orange Grove RV Par3Very good WiFi and good Verizon cell/data. East of the urban area with easy access and quiet and dark at night. A very nice stay, we'll visit again.  Pricy but worth the $43/night.  Orange Grove RV Park

Shady Grove RV Park, Alamogordo NM

Stay Date:  Oct 2016

Our Rating:  GOOD – 8

Shady Grove1Alamogordo doesn’t offer much in the way of quality RV Parks, but this is a nice park at a very reasonable price.  We spent a month here; the long, level pull-thrus had a nice-sized tree for shade, a gravel patio, and a table. Shady Grove2 Acceptable cable TV, some OTA channels, and no obstructions to TV satellites.  The WiFi worked well, and we had good Verizon cell/data.  Not in the best neighborhood, but with easy access to the highway with little road noise.  Shady Grove3Close to Alamogordo’s shopping with easy access to Tularosa, Cloudcroft, and Ruidoso.  Friendly manager and owner.  Monthly rate of $300 included electric.  Shady Grove RV Park

Edgington RV Park, Alamogordo NM

Stay Date:  Oct 2016
Our Rating:  UGLY – 2
Edginton RV Alamogordo1We really wanted to like this park; the new owner was friendly, outgoing, and very helpful. But the deteriorating appearance, road noise, and trashy permanent resident area was just too much of negative for us to stay again.Edginton RV Alamogordo2 Sites are gravel and share the curbside area, with no picnic table or trees. Our site's electrical was jury rigged with a wobbly 50A box linked to an extension cord. No cable, but good OTA selection and few obstacles to the satellites. Spotty WiFi but good Verizon cell/data.  Edginton RV Alamogordo3We watched as a resident's dog wandered around and marked his territory on our tires and a cat used the site for a litter box. We can't recommend or stay here again.  Passport America rate is $18//night.  Edgington RV Park

Cactus RV Park, Tucumcari NM

Stay Date:  Oct 2016

Our Rating:  Good – 7

Tucumcari, NM1Other reviewers haven’t been as kind, but for us the park consistently provides a good overnight stay at a reasonable price. Much depends on the site you’re assigned, so try and get a pull-thru under the trees.  Friendly check-in and escort to our site, a long, level gravel pull-thru with shade. Convenient hookups, quiet location, and walking distance to a good restaurant. Tucumcari, NM2Extensive analog cable TV, and most sites have a clear view of satellites. Good Verizon cell/data, and the park WiFi worked well. Can be a bit dusty as RVs arrive/depart, but overall well worth the price.  Reasonable at $25/night.  Cactus RV Park
