Stay Date: Oct 2017
Our Rating: GOOD – 7
One of Oregon’s largest parks with over 227 sites, South Beach is popular park close to the tourist town of Newport. We’d never stay here in the summer, but in October most of the sites were empty and it was quiet. Paved roads and all back-in sites, mostly level and with 30A power and water. Our site was on a corner which gave us a bit more room, and open enough that we could use a portable satellite dish. No WiFi, cable, or OTA TV. Verizon cell/data worked well. Only a 1/4 mile walk to the beach, and close to the town itself. The hospitality center has free coffee and volunteers can provide local information and maps. At the high end of price at $31/night plus one-time $8 reservation fee, the price will increase to $33/night on November 1. South Beach State Park
