This is our stay of choice in an area of few options. Easy access off the interstate but a bit tight maneuvering within the park. Pull through sites are gravel, fairly level, and long enough to leave the tow vehicle attached. Hookups are randomly placed; some sites have sewer in the far rear, some have water there. This time around, the sewer was close but the water required an extra hose. Nicely shaded with green grass, but each morning meant more hard water spots from the sprinkler system. Cable TV was just average, OTA had a number of channels, and satellite views were difficult with all of the tree cover. WiFi was poor but Verizon cell/data was good. We were in the back row, and the train noise, not from horns but from squealing brakes. A park with some some very attractive features, but also with a few problems.  $44/night.  Jim and Mary’s RV Park

Fairchild AFB Famcamp, WA

Our usual stop when passing through the area. As usual, we were asked to step out of the coach on arrival for inspection, a minor distraction.  Each time we arrive at the Famcamp there’s something different.  This time the host site has moved, but it didn’t matter since it was pick your own site and pay at the Outdoor Rec office – the host isn’t allowed to accept money.  The sites run from OK to scary close if you park in the old section.  The new section is standardized, but there are no trees and they’re fairly close to one another.  Hookups are good, restrooms/showers were clean, and the gravel sites were fairly level.  Some restrictions to the TV satellites in the old area, so pick your site carefully.  Lots of OTA channels, good Verizon cell/data, and the park WiFi worked well.  No more weekly rate, but at $20/night it’s tough to complain.  Fairchild AFB Famcamp 

Coyote Run RV Park, Connell WA

Not a destination park; there’s not much here, just a convenient stop that’s comfortable, easy to access, and relatively quiet.  Although close to the highway, the terrain masks most of the noise.  Interior roads are paved and sites are long, level gravel, with room to leave the tow vehicle attached.  Friendly hosts, quick check in, and convenient hookups.  Good Verizon cell/data, adequate cable, and fair WiFi.  Mostly long-term residents, but not a lot of outside stuff, and only a bit of noise as residents left in the morning.  Convenience makes the $38/night acceptable.  Coyote Run RV Park

Crook Country RV Park, Prineville OR

Unlike most fairgrounds, the park is separated from the fair area and has ample grass and trees. Access and signage is very good, just a short distance from the downtown area. Interior roads are paved and surprisingly wide, while sites are also paved, are long and fairly level, but are just wide enough for your vehicle. Sewer is at the far rear, so if you leave a tow vehicle attached you'll need a long sewer hose. Stepping out means stepping on grass, and if the adjacent site is occupied by an RV with slides, you'll be very close together. Park WiFi was not working during our visit, but Verizon cell/data were very good. No cable TV, but OTA had a few channels and there were no obstructions to satellites. Check in was with a friendly lady who will share local information and provide maps. Quiet and dark at night, although there is some noise from early morning residents going to work. A convenient, clean park - we'll stay here again.  A bit overpriced at $38/night.  Crook County RV Park

Phoenix RV Park, Salem OR

We spent a week at the professionally managed and exceptionally well maintained park. Although in an urban area of Salem, access into the park is very easy with good signage. Interior roads and sites are paved with beautifully maintained grass, trees, and bushes separating sites and hiding hookups. Sites are long enough for most RVs and tow vehicles, and are level with a table and mid-site patio. Although next to a highway and behind a Safeway, the park was quiet at night. Verizon cell and data were strong, but park WiFi was, as expected in a large park, unusable. Cable TV was analog but very good, OTA had over 20 channels, and there were no obstructions to TV satellites. Many sites were obviously long-term residents; however, sites were will maintained and clear of clutter. A great place to stay while visiting Salem; close to downtown, shopping, and with easy access to the interstate.  Location has its price at $43/night.  Phoenix RV Park

Winnebago Factory Service RV Parking, Junction City OR

This is reserved parking for the Winnebago service facility, also a part of Lyle Day Memorial Park.  There’s not much to it, just an asphalt parking lot with lines indicating spaces, but it does have full hookups.  It would be an OK place except for the horrendous train noise. In 45 years of RVing and over twelve years of full-timing, we've never experienced train noise at this level. The tracks are less than 1/4 mile away and run through the heart of Junction City. The trains run 24 hours, and because of the many crossings, the horns sound constantly and sleep, even with earplugs is impossible. We appreciated the free parking, but if we ever need to return we’ll stay at a commercial park.  Free, but a ridiculous $45/night for those not here for the service. Lyle Day Memorial Park

Mill Casino RV Park, North Bend, OR

Our Rating:  GOOD – 9

This park is our preferred stay in the area; the access is easy, check-in is always professional, and the sites are nicely landscaped and generally level. Our pull-thru site gave us an unrestricted view of the bay, and we watched as large ships were maneuvered for docking nearby. Verizon cell/data was very good, but the park WiFi was generally unusable even with a lightly-populated park. The cable TV is analog and of poor quality, but there are a number of OTA channels and satellite coverage is unrestricted. A free shuttle runs between the park and nearby casino but can also be used for a ride downtown. Easy access for propane on-board tanks but expect to pay a higher charge for the convenience. Good security in the park which is quiet at night.  Depending on player’s card status, $32-45/night.  Mill Casino RV Park
