This is a great little park sitting beside the Clearwater River in the little town of Orofino. All paved roads and sites, with just a few outstanding pull thrus that put your patio side right on the river. We managed to snag on (site 21) and couldn’t have asked for a better location. Long, (90 feet), with patio and table, we were right on the river. Very friendly host who stopped by to make sure we were comfortable. Limited cable TV, good WiFi, with good Verizon cell/data. Getting to the park requires driving over a short stretch of dirt road and a railroad track, so take it slow. Quiet except for the sounds of rushing water. Considering the area and the site, reasonable at $36/night. Clearwater Crossing RV Park

Lolo Square dance Center and RV Campground, Lolo MT
Stay Date June 2015
Our Rating: GOOD – 8
This was our second visit to this campground and we enjoyed the location, quiet, and tall trees. Two miles off highway 93, the park has easy access and a very friendly staff. Interior roads are dirt/gravel and there is some dust, and sites are mostly gravel and level. Nice grassy area between each site with a table. Limited cable and very strong WiFi, and Verizon cell/4G were very good. Lots of trees, but with a little luck you can find a view of the TV satellites. Busy up front on Friday and Saturday with all of the square dancers, but quiet in the campground area. Convenient to Missoula (9 miles) and other attractions further south. Weekly rate was lowered the daily cost to $28/night, the most reasonable price in the area. Lolo Square dance Center and RV Campground

Fairmont RV Park, Anaconda, MT
Stay Date: June 2015
Our Rating: GOOD - 6
Well off the interstate, the park is average except in price. Check-in was by a disinterested office clerk, although her assistant was friendly and helpful. Gravel interior roads and sites, with a sewer hookup that was too far to the rear to use without an extension. Sites are above medium sized with grass and trees; however, there's room for a clear view of the TV satellites. Verizon cell/4G were strong, and the free WiFi was spotty. Next to a hot springs resort, but otherwise not much in the immediate area. Without a specific reason to spend time here, the overnight price is excessive and we'll look elsewhere when traveling through the area. Overpriced at $38/night. Fairmont RV Park

Mountain Range RV Park, Columbus, MT
Stay Date: Jun 2015
Our Rating: GOOD – 8
Close to the interstate with easy access but not much noise, the park is slightly terraced with long, mostly level pull-thru gravel sites. Friendly office staff at check in. WiFi was typical campground erratic and there's no cable but some OTA TV. Some trees but not much impedance to satellite TV. Verizon cell/4G were very good, and hookups worked well. A good overnight stop that we'll use again. A bit pricy at $37.50. Mountain Range RV Park

Peter D’s RV Park
Stay Date: June 2015
Our Rating: GOOD – 8
This park is worth a visit just to meet Peter D. Friendly, helpful, and with a sense of humor uncommon for an RV park owner. He’ll give you maps, brochures, and tell you all about Sheridan, and he’ll even stop by and ask if everything at your site is OK. The park is easy to access off the interstate, but you have to look for Joe Street where you turn right, and the turn is on a significant slant. Park roads and sites are gravel and level, but very close together. There’s grass, no many trees, and a nice view of the horses in the meadow next door. Cable was limited and the WiFi was often slow, but Verizon cell/4G were very good. Quiet and dark at night, this is a great place to stay and explore Sheridan, and although the price is on the high side it’s the most reasonable in town.

Ellsworth Famcamp, Ellsworth AFB, SD
Stay Date: May 2015
Our Rating: GOOD – 9
The Ellsworth AFB Famcamp provides a reasonably priced location to explore the Black Hills. Five miles west of Rapid City, it's an easy drive to Custer State Park and other attractions. Access is by any of the three gates without restriction, and check in was easy with the very friendly and helpful host. Sites are level concrete, a mix of back-ins in the old section and pull-thrus in the new, for a total of 38 RV sites with 8 more under construction. The WiFi worked, but was affected by the number of campers using it, and Verizon cell/4G was good. No cable, but clear shot to TV satellites and good OTA TV. Grass was high on arrival due to snow/rain but was cut while we were there, as usual spraying grass onto the RV. Probably the most professional gate guards in the military, and everyone at the commissary, BX, etc., was friendly and helpful. The $1 raise in rates provides free washers and dryers, so the nightly rate is now $21. This is a popular place, so make reservations. Ellsworth AFB Famcamp
